Dr. Michael Foote is a board-certified ophthalmologist having completed his ophthalmology residency in 2002 at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City, KS. He completed both his medical school training and internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, graduating in 1998 and 1999 respectively. He is trained in comprehensive ophthalmology providing services in laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, cornea surgery, trauma and plastic surgery of the eyelid. His main area of focus is refractive and cataract surgery.
Dr. Foote was the first ophthalmologist in El Paso to perform femtosecond laser cataract surgery, Kamra Inlay surgery, Raindrop Inlay surgery, all-laser Lasik using the IFS femtosecond laser and corneal cross-linking surgery.
Founding Sun Eye Care, PA and Sun Laser Vision Centers in 2005, Dr. Foote is a third generation physician with his father, grandfather and sister all being physicians. Originally from El Paso, Dr. Foote returned in 2002 to begin his practice in ophthalmology. He has been actively involved in medical mission trips to Guatemala and Mexico. His interests outside of medicine include swimming, golf, snow and water skiing, tennis and triathlons.
Dr. Aditya Mehta grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He joined Sun Eye Care in 2019 and has been a great asset to our practice. Dr. Mehta completed his ophthalmology residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center in 2019. There he served as chief resident and received many research awards to include the Kenneth Peist Award for Excellence in Oculoplastic Research and the Commandant’s Research Award.
Dr. Mehta is a comprehensive ophthalmologist providing services in oculoplastic surgery, cataract surgery, refractive surgery, glaucoma, strabismus surgery and oculoplastic surgery. Dr. Mehta currently serves in the army as a military ophthalmologist and recently returned from serving overseas in Iraq. Dr. Mehta values charitable work and has performed in medical missions in South and Central America. When he is not a work, his hobbies include gardening, bike riding, and rock climbing.

Dr. Sharon Barentine is a therapeutic optometrist having finished her sequence of national optometry boards in 1996. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Central Florida graduating with honors. She then went on to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry under a full scholarship from the United States Air Force. After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Barentine worked in the Air Force, retiring in 2011 at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Her time in the military saw her stationed in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Colorado, North Carolina, and Hawaii. She has been licensed and boarded in each of those states. Upon retiring from the Air Force, she worked at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and developed an interest in treating the ocular effects of traumatic brain injury, visual systems evaluation, and ocular therapeutics. She was also an associate and principal investigator in the CITI Human Research program in 2014. Dr. Barentine joined Sun Eye Care, PA in 2018. She continues to practice therapeutic optometry, enjoys managing and correcting patients with diplopia and performs full eye exams on adults.
Dr. Priscilla J. Krinkey has been part of the Sun Eye Care Family for over an year. She is a local member of the El Paso community, born and raised in the El Paso/Juarez area. Graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in science in 2013. In 2015, Dr. Krinkey was admitted to Optometry School in Puerto Rico where she enjoyed spending her time helping the communities in need. She also participated in a mission trip with NOSA and the Lions club to provide eye exams and eyeglasses to over 500 patients from a low-income community at the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Krinkey has a special interest in eye diseases as well as fitting specialty contacts including soft contact lenses, RGP’s, hybrid and scleral lenses. She also recently attended the International Congress of Scleral Contacts and Advanced Refractive Congress in Florida to provide her patients with the latest knowledge and technology in the field. She also has extensive training with pediatric examinations, visual therapy, managing dry eye and diabetic examinations. After living away from home for 10 years, Dr. Priscilla Krinkey is thrilled to finally be back to her community.
